Following the huge success of the Orgien-Mysterien-Theaters in the late 1960s and early 1970s in the United States and Germany, Nitsch conducted a series of events in a number of European and North American cities during the 1970s. In 1971, he completed the purchase of the Niederösterreichische Schloss Prinzendorf,
which had previously been in the possession of the church, and it was there that Nitsch realized his musical visions for his theater productions as part of a larger-scale campaign.
When it came to the performances, Lärmorchesters, Schreichöre, and other electronically enhanced instruments were used. Nitsch characterized life as a passion, the therapeutic process as a condensed version of life, and hence as an inbegriff of passion.

The 6-Tage-Game, which was staged at Schloss Prinzendorf in 1998, was a high point. The castle was purchased and restored by him in 1971, and it became the most important residence and working space for the artist, as well as a venue for performances and a pilgrimage site for his followers.
